By David Singer, published 7/6/2011

FIFA has been in the media spotlight this week as its practices and procedures have come under increasing scrutiny and its conduct has become of great concern to many of its member countries.

Tell us

1. What rules were bent to permit Israel to join the OECD?

2. What rules are bent to allow Israel to ignore UN Resolutions?

3. Well what about the Eurovision Song Contest - what is your point?

I detailed in my article the specific rules FIFA bent in order to admit Palestine as a member of FIFA.

You should specifically detail your allegations about the OECD, UN resolutions and the Song Contest.

Your generalised and unsubstantiated claims are not worth the paper they are written on. So give us some detail please.

It's clear from Singer's article that FIFA had a way of admitting a place like Palestine, and that the way they admitted Palestine didn't conform to it. Israel has allowed a degree of self-rule in the area it was, and is, forced to administer, but whether the self rule extends to international sporting associations is a real question. Are there any other such institutions which have admitted Palestine, or dealt with a request for admission? (Knowing that soccer is probably the most popular game for males in the West bank and Gaza)
It isn't really very important: it may be indicative of sloppy administration, or it may have been at the request of some Muslim Arabs who were quite aware of what they were doing. Of course, if it has been an attempt to get others involved, who do not usually get involved in this issue, it might yet backfire. I don't imagine that those who would normally stay out of politics, once engaged in this issue through their favourite passtime, would be very eager to pick up the jihad and kill Jews so that the Palestinian Arabs can have all of the rest of Palestine, after Jordan already got most of it.

FIFA's breach of its own rules should be compared to the treatment FIFA handed out to Kosovo.

In October 2008, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rejected the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) application for affiliation, as it was deemed not to comply with article 10 of the FIFA statutes, which stipulates that only "an independent state recognised by the international community" may be admitted. As a result, Kosovo cannot play any friendly FIFA matches.

The double standards employed by FIFA are glaringly obvious
